Mat Care Guide

We've crafted our mats to support you through every part of your yoga practice. To get the most from your mat, and to keep it in optimum condition, we recommend taking the following steps to care for your new Fable mat. No expensive cleaning products required.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

We recommend wiping your mat with with a soft damp cloth and mild detergent that is heavily diluted with plenty of water every 5 practices or so - unless it’s been particularly sweaty session. Do not clean your mat with essential oils or chemical cleaning sprays which can break down the natural tree materials and compromise performance. A dish wash soap heavily diluted with water is sufficient to cut through any post-practice sweat and dirt.  Avoid over-cleaning your mat, this will wear out the materials faster - while PVC mats can withstand heavier cleaning (plastic just doesn’t biodegrade - yuck) Natural tree rubber mats must be gently hand cleaned and are not suitable for machine washing. After cleaning your mat, leave it to dry, before rolling back up.

STORAGE

Your Fable Mat has been designed to be rolled up with the top smooth layer facing outwards. This prevents creasing on the top layer and means your mat will always lay out flat to the ground when you practice with zero curling at the corners. Store your mat in cool, dry place when not in use and away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

GENERAL CARE

Because of the absorbent nature of the materials we use to create our mats, over time, the body's natural oils and pressure from practice may leave marks on your mat. Don’t worry - these can be cleaned post practice. Over time, you may find that not all marks will remove completely - this will not affect the performance of the mat. We like to see them as a reminder of your commitment to your practice.  We do not recommend cleaning with essential oils and you should avoid hopping on your mat immediately after applying body lotions, creams and oils. Because the surface is absorbent, these will naturally cause deeper marks.

While your pup may look adorable doing a downward dog on your mat, it should be kept away from paws, claws and other sharp objects to avoid puncturing the surface. Our super smooth yet grippy surface is designed to feel incredible for human-only yoga.
